Spring has arrived! Daffodils and tulips are beginning to bloom, tree buds are bursting forth into delicate green leaves, and the birds are singing a happy tune. Are you ready to join them?
Don’t we all love to see the early signs of spring, welcoming these harbingers of regeneration and regrowth in grateful anticipation of the warm, sunny days that are sure to follow?
Most people consider January 1st as the start of a “new year”—not me. In my view, it is springtime that presents fresh opportunities for new beginnings, a renewal of purpose, and a revived enthusiasm for dispelling darkness with the effulgence of Light.
Consider these human activities that benefit from a boost of energy this time of year:
Spring can also be the perfect time for a deeper sense of connection and special unity with Life, with all creation. As we pause in our busy days to watch the antics of baby bunnies cavorting on the lawn, tiny squirrels scampering up trees, fawns drinking water from a pond alongside their mothers, or tiny geckos scurrying through the bushes, we open our hearts to appreciate that special oneness, a kinship with all Life that is eternally manifesting rebirth and vitality.
In the Bible we read about a man named Nicodemus, a Pharisee and an admirer of Jesus. He became quite confused when Jesus told him that to see (to understand) the kingdom of God (Truth, Love, and Life), humans must be “born again.” Nicodemus took this literally, failing to grasp that Jesus was speaking metaphorically of spiritual rebirth and renewal—a necessity for moving forward on our journey and experiencing all the wonders that the Source of all good holds for us. (John 3: 1-7)
As the sun rises higher in the sky, we welcome this yearly reminder that no matter how dark and dreary things may appear, the warmth and comfort of Light can rejuvenate, transform, and heal. Each of us can absorb that healing Light for ourselves by breathing in the fresh air of a deeper, inspired sense of God’s true perfect nature, and therefore our own as God’s beautiful expression! We can dispel the darkness that would seem to entrap us by absorbing the Light of God’s infinite Love as it embraces us—we can experienced a joyous rebirth!

Consider these human activities that benefit from a boost of energy this time of year:
- homes undergo a thorough spring cleaning
- windows are open to let soft, fresh breezes sweep away stale indoor air
- snow blowers and shovels are stored away
- sports equipment that has laid dormant through the winter gets dusted off
- warmer weather clothes find a prominent space in the closet
- the outdoors and nature’s offerings are enjoyed with renewed vigor
